What is beekeeping?

Beekeeping is a type of agricultural occupation that involves the cultivation and utilization of honey bees in hives for obtaining direct or indirect benefits… Direct benefits from beekeeping are obtained in the following products: honey, beeswax, bee venom, royal jelly, pollen, propolis. In addition, he also receives swarms and nuts for reproduction in beekeeping. The indirect benefit of the beekeeping by pollinating agricultural plants is significantly greater than direct, about 100 to 150 times because in nature about 80% of plants are entomophile (insect pollinating plants).

Beekeeping can be:

  • hobby
  • additional job
  • commercial business

History of beekeeping

Beekeeping is one of the earliest occupations of man. He’s older than crop, and maybe even cattle breeding. The ancestor of today’s man did not grow bees, but he sought them in the cavities of trees and rocks. The bees were destroyed, and they took away honey and wax, so “bees” were bees. The oldest data on beekeeping originates from the Stone Age. Found in a cave near Baker, Spain, it is about 30,000 years old and has been shown taking honey from the wall. The ancient Egyptians and Assyrians were among the first to grow bees. They also knew the method of taking honey without destroying the bees. In many tombs, reliefs were found on which bees and honey were painted. The ancient Greeks received the beekeeping skills of the Egyptians and the Romans of the Greeks.

Types of apiary

  • Sowing a bee – a honeybee in which hives move to areas where, depending on the time of the year, honey plants are flourishing.
  • Beekeeper – a bee in which bees are grown in a special (ecological) manner with the supervision of state institutions.

Beekeeping accessories

In addition to the indispensable hives, for the basic treatment of beekeeping, they require a chimney, a beehive, a hive to open hives, nuts cages, an apiary for beekeepers, a frame for carrying the frame, several griddles and a small tool (hammer, pliers, nails, etc.) .

Smoke detector

The smoke detector serves to calm the bees. It is a device that consists of a bellows and tin roller box with a firebox and zipper. Below the firebox that is located on the bottom side, there is a tube through which the bubble enters the air. The air flow makes the burning material burning, and the smoke comes out through the hole. If several sprays of smoke are applied to bees, they will eat a certain amount of honey.

Beehive

The beehive protects the head of the beekeeper from the bees’ stings. The net with the net must be transparent, and therefore it is usually made of black cotton finish.

Knife to open a hive

The hive to open a hive is an important device in beekeeping, and therefore the beekeeper must always have it at hand. It is set to scrape, clean, separate the frame and body, etc.

Honey extractor

The honey extractor is a part of the equipment that allows the extraction of honey from the honeycomb. The frames are placed in a jug, and they rotate, and then due to the centrifugal force between the exits from the honeycomb and the impact on the wall of the sprinkler. Then it is poured into the tapping faucet and stored in the packaging.
